Going to Pakistan!

I have been chosen to be part of a Indo-Pak people to people initiative on building bridges between the two countries. I am copying the communication received to give an idea of the program.

Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation and the Lahore University of Management Sciences have jointly launched a project recently titled – Common issues, Common Concerns: Exploring India-Pakistan Partnership.

As part of this project we hope to bring 16 middle schools and 16 individuals/organizations working on Urben environmental protection thrice during one year project period from 4 cities. These include Mumbai, Karachi, Lahore and Amritsar.

First of these gatherings would take place in Mumbai on 11-12 October. We are expecting 18 people from Pakistan for it.The venue of the conference is being finalized. The attached background note will give you the objectives behind this initiative and the conference subjects the deliberations would focus on.

            Background Note
I could not participate in the Mumbai deliberation since I had been out of Mumbai then.
Below is another link which gives a background to the efforts already underway

Statement from Third Islamabad Dialogue

Our delegation program will be as below:

Karachi Programme, Jan 2014

Programme Schedule-Lahore

Extremely excited with this opportunity since I have firmly believed always that this excessive hatred and distrust between the two nations needs to go and we need to build bridges for co-operation. I do hope to play my small bit towards this besides the formal conference agenda. Grateful to CDR and LUMS for selecting me to be part of the efforts.

Hope to post regularly and do check posts under the category Pakistan Trip! Do post your comments here so that they will be visible to our friends in Pakistan and others.
